From an early age, and even more so since becoming a freelancer and tour guide, I have loved traveling and communicating with people in their own language. To inspire your future journeys and preserve wonderful memories for myself, I would like to share some pictures from my trips.
I’ve had the chance to explore incredible destinations while guiding groups. Check out some of my favorite trips on my page dedicated to my roles in ecotourism.
I left on a whim for Albania in February 2025 as part of a volunteer program. In the far south of the country, they were looking for people to harvest olives in small, semi-wild family olive groves.
I was a little apprehensive, as I still had this image of Albania as the “North Korea of Europe,” closed off for decades and still mysterious today. But in reality, I had some wonderful and positive surprises:
- Breathtaking, unspoiled landscapes
- Warm and friendly locals, very comfortable with English in Tirana, much less so in the south, which is Greek-speaking (damn it, I should have been prepared for that)
- An atmosphere reminiscent of Europe decades ago, with a sense of community, warmth, and curiosity. Okay, people still smoke in restaurants, but that's the flip side of the coin.
- Fascinating culture and history, a mix of peoples and religions that have managed to live in harmony for centuries.
I didn't stay long enough to explore everything, but I recommend going now before the construction craze, which has already begun, spoils these beautiful coastlines and small villages.
